Art Launch… The first event

with one comment

Having determined to care about only the things that local people tell us they care about, we put together our first SE-Village event, an Art Launch!

Many people have taken part in art related activities at Peckham Settlement in the past and have always moaned that there is not enough, nothing on-going… So, we made a plan of action. We provided a studio space for a local artist within the Peckham Settlement building… http://annaleamay.com/88/index.php/paint

We asked her to pay for the space in the Peckham Pound – voluntary hours of time working with the local community.

We then used our new Artist in Residence as a way of inviting back all the local members of the community who have ever expressed a wish/been involved in art at Peckham Settlement. We ‘launched’ our new artist, we got people to ‘give-it-a-go’ with new pieces of community art and then we told them all about SE-Village, with a hands-up for running your own club. Hands went up everywhere and they are all coming back to sit with Annalea (our resident artist) to discuss the future SE-Village art club that “everyone is talking about…”

Alongside this, the team is being built and it’s dedicated space prepared. SE-Village is coming to life!
